It’s another violent videogame commercial with an understated, emotional song, but this time with a triumphant pop-hip hop twist! This Assassin’s Creed 3 commercial song is a hit from a few years ago in case you forgot it: ”Coming Home” by Diddy – Dirty Money feat. Skylar Grey. Diddy – Dirty Money of course is one of several creative aliases belonging to rapper Sean Combs that have come up over the years, though we don’t actually hear much from him in this edit of the song. The lyrics we do hear in the spot (sung by Skylar Grey) are:

Tell the world that I’m coming home

All the pain of yesterday
From what I can gather, Assassin’s Creed 3 takes place in America during the Revolutionary War and the main character is a Mohawk who is lending his talents to the revolutionaries. Not to spoil the ending or anything, but I think he’s on the winning team! At least in this war, anyway. What happened with his people and the nation that would form after that, well, I don’t think that will be a video game anytime soon. But what we get in this commercial is almost a militaristic remix of the song as the firing of cannons and muskets sync up with the beat, and it creates an uplifting triumphant sound that I’m sure is psyching up fans all over the country for the game’s release on October 30.
