Beats by Dre "What Will You B?"

Anything Could Happen - Anything Could Happen - Single

I almost feel like this Beats by Dre campaign was designed specifically to make me feel old and out of touch as all get-out (just in case it wasn’t obvious – using the phrase “as all get-out” was my attempt at achieving acceptance of my ever increasing un-hipness). The reason for this being that even though I know everyone in this commercial is a celebrity of some regard, I am only able to identify two of them positively and one rather vaguely as ‘that really good professional basketball player’. That’s LeBron James, right? Duh. I’m joking. I Ask Jeevesed him (yes, another attempt at acceptance of my ensuing out-of-touch-ness).

The spot opens dramatically with Ellie Goulding, one of the two people I was able to positively ID, belting out a song from her forthcoming third album, Halcyon. The commercial follows the formula of previous Beats ads, with musicians, athletes and singers clowning for the camera with the headphones and or the tools of their respective trades over an engaging pop song. The song here being Goulding’s Anything Could Happen. The song’s parent album, Halcyon drops (that’s still cool to say, right? – “drops”) tomorrow, October 8th.

Is there a commercial with a song that you just can’t seem to identify or you would just like to see us write about? Give us a shout like Tianna did re: this Beats commercial, via our request form.

Ha ha. I guess no one else knows either. Don’t feel quite as unhip anymore.

I wanna know who posted that video capture? Did you take a picture of your cathode ray tube tv? Next time, use youtube > pause > Prt Sc > and paste in Paint. Be a little professional, eh? Props, for the recognition though.
