If you watched the Super Bowl, you might have noticed Anheuser-Busch introduced a new beer–Bud Light Platinum, which had two short commercials. We like that the first one looked more like a car commercial, and Kanye West‘s “Runaway” does have an awesome intro that lends itself to an ad like this, but was anyone else immediately reminded of the lyrics in the hook (“Let’s have a toast to the douchebags,”etc)? There aren’t any vocals in the commercial, but perhaps Anheuser-Bush knows its clients well enough to know they wouldn’t care, or might even like the association with the lyrics. The second one had much more appropriate lyrics–at first we thought it was Flo Rida‘s “Good Feeling,” but it only shares the same Etta James vocal sample taken from “Something’s Got a Hold on Me.” It’s actually “Levels” by Avicii, who co-produced “Good Feeling,” which explains the similarity. High-profile music, but we’re still not sure about the beer.
