Were you wondering what the Dr. Pepper commercial song is? Well, they certainly know how to grab your attention. Not only does their latest commercial deploy the very awesome song “Down the Road” by C2C, but they give you flash vignettes of people with individuality such as an alligator wrestler and Chicago’s own air guitar world champion, Nordic Thunder. This commercial is so flashy and fun that it leaves you saying what is that song, who is that person and why don’t I go to the beach with bread attached to my suit?
Their use of “Down the Road” grabs you by the horns (the metaphorical ones on your head, not the ones they play because they don’t play horns) with its own unique blend of sounds. The unique French band uses only turntables to create their sound and makes them a perfect fit for the One of a Kind image that Dr. Pepper is shooting for. Want to see them live? Well I hope you live somewhere in Europe as, much to my chagrin, currently that is the only place their tour is hitting. However, if they came to US feel free to get us both tickets!
What’s that you say? I made a mention of air guitar championships and then just glossed over it like it was no big deal? Don’t worry, I will tell you more about Nordic Thunder here! He is the guy you see briefly in the commercial, the one with the long scruffy mane, the weird outfit and the concert like setting. I am ecstatic to count Nordic Thunder as one of my friends and watching his rise to the top has been exciting for all who know him. Last year he paid his own way to the 17th annual World air guitar championships in Oulu, Finland, entered the Dark Horse Competition, and took all of his other competitors down. I highly recommend checking out some of his videos on YouTube and if you want to meet him live, you can stalk him over at The Annoyance Theater where he performs as an actor or you can track him down at his next air guitar event!
