Song:2 Wicky – The Heights (Original Soundtrack)
Ah! Sexy and scary all at once, Fiat. It’s too much! I’m still freaking out over here! GAAAAAH! This very chill music combined with the calm demeanor of beautiful model Catrinel Menghia paired with a GIGANTIC BLACK SCORPION crawling on her back definitely gets one’s attention. Man! I can’t decide if I like this commercial or not. It’s very sex + violence (or the threat of), plus there’s a speeding car to boot. What am I feeling? Should I go watch a Bond film or something?
This spot for the Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio is definitely stimulating and yes, it makes me want the car more than I already did. The “topless” connection is cute without being cheesy. The model is topless after the scorpion clips her bikini string and the Fiat 500 now comes in a new topless convertible version. Both are cool and sexy with a hint of danger.
This Fiat 500 commercial song is great and really sets the scene for the spot. I don’t usually link our competitors (Oh, America! The only land where you’ll find dozens of blogs dedicated to television advertising music.), but Find that Song really knocked it out of the park with this one. While many other competing sites named Isaac Hayes‘s Walk On By as the tune in question, Find that Song did sleuthing and found this is actually Hooverphonic‘s rendition of Walk On By, called 2 Wicky. Is it blasphemous for me to admit I enjoy Hooverphonic’s version better than Isaac Hayes’s?
If you really like the tune and want to find out more history, read the rest of Find that Song’s post. Hint: two other big names were involved in this song prior to Isaac Hayes.
