This new GEICO Commercial for Motorcycle insurance is creating quite a stir. In it, a dude with a seriously enviable skin condition goes for a leisurely cruise through the back roads while making it rain money behind him. I didn”t realize this until researching this commercial, but apparently this weird dollar bill Bigfoot is a recurring character for GEICO. I can’t decide if I find him off-putting or am completely charmed by his absurdity.
If you’re wondering what is so controversial about all this, then it is a safe bet you weren’t around in the 1970s when not one, but two members of The Allman Brothers Band died in tragic motorcycle accidents. Some fans think using their classic hit Midnight Rider in this ad is just a little gauche.
On the other hand, if you die doing something you loved, does that mean people should act like you didn’t love it to begin with? What do you think, readers? Get philosophical with me in the comments.
Well I’ve got to run to keep from hiding
And I’m bound to keep on riding
And I’ve got one more silver dollar
But I’m not gonna let em catch me, no
Not gonna let em catch the midnight rider
