We’ve received several reader requests (thanks Don, Kieren, Kimberly, Mel, Richard and others) for the newest commercial from Kmart, “Layaway Giveaway Gasp” featuring the song Girl by Das Racist.
Here’s what you need to know: Girl is the perfect song for this Kmart layaway commercial. Why? Because what you’re hearing and seeing is Kmart’s layaway trying to seduce you to the bumping electronic beats of Das Racist. Kmart’s seduction is the ability to place items on hold, make some payments, and BAM! Christmas presents for all, with no stress or hassle. Plus, Kmart will pay off the layaway debt for one lucky winner. Do you see how the woman’s mouth opens in extreme excitement? This is exactly what Das Racist wants in Girl – a “present” without stress or hassle. DR complements all the awesome qualities of the girl (she has a pool AND her hair smells like their favorite cigarettes) and say:
“And I know and I know and I know what we came to do
And I’m pretty sure that you do, too”
