The tablet wars continue! This commercial is for the new Kindle Fire HD, and with the holidays right around the corner you will probably being seeing it quite a bit in the coming weeks. Part of Amazon’s “Reinventors of normal” campaign, this ad features some dreamy folk from New York trio High Highs.
The main focus of the commercial is showing the portability of the Kindle, while a voice over talks about the high definition screen, camera, and dual-speaker Dolby sound. It’s pretty straight forward.
High High’s “Open Season” plays in the background adding a nice ambiance to the commercial, especially near the end. The song actually has some cool hazy lyrics, but the commercial elects to keep High Highs contribution strictly instrumental. I feel like Amazon might have missed an opportunity to showcase the song a little more, but I guess that would be asking too much of a 30-second commercial.
It’s a simple ad with some simple music, but the band is still worth checking out. Clear some space on the iPod and download their four-song self-titled EP. It doesn’t disappoint.
