Sorry we’re a little late covering this one. You guys have been blowing up our request form and it’s hard to keep up! This is one of the Kohl’s back to school commercials for 2012. It’s very simple, with students dancing around (ostensibly out of the joy they feel wearing Kohl’s clothing) as colorful graphics move around them and music plays in the background.
Thank you to Debbie, L, and several others for pointing out that this low-key music sounds pretty cool. It has an older, soulful sound. A couple of readers suggested the song was by Amy Winehouse. Actually, the musical artist is Duffy, a Welsh singer. The song came out on her debut album in 2008. The song has been used as background music in many films, and is popular enough to have its own Wikipedia page. I hadn’t heard of Duffy before this, but I’m definitely going to add her to my playlist and check out her other tunes after hearing this one.
