This Lexus commercial is the most recent car ad trying to be tricky. In it a couple has an adventurous night on the town, shooting pool at bars, grabbing coffee at a diner, and even hitting up a carousel for some super cute smooching. But hey, the big reveal in the end is that they aren’t some wild strangers, they’re married and they have kids. So you can have a family and still be cool. What a concept.
As for the song, New York rockers The Figgs have been making music together since 1987. Je T’Adore is cool, catchy and fun. Confession: even though I got a solid B average in my one year of high school French, I can’t fully translate this song. Sure I get the “Bonjour!” part, and that is definitely counting happening, but the conversational parts are a bit shaky (I looked these lyrics up on another site, so fingers crossed they are correct!). But really, does it even matter? You can probably convincingly mumble along even if you don’t know what you’re singing. I already do that with some songs in English anyway.
Bonjour! Je t’adore. C’est a aujourd’hui et toujours, my amor
How about me?
And it’s un, deux, trois, quatre give me some more of that
Cinq, six, sept, huit, I think that you’re really sweet
Je t’adore, je t’adore, je t’adore
S’il vous plait
