Sorry Blair, we’re totally late on fulfilling songs from our request form. We’re still really happy you asked about this though! It is simple and fun. This is a total pump-up commercial. You hear the Rolling Stones and you see ridiculously in-shape Olympic athletes preparing for the timer to start so they can do their thing. At the end, you find out it’s a spot for Omega, a watch company. In addition to making wrist watches, they make timers and–have you guessed it yet?–their timers were the official timers for the 2012 London Olympics. Neat.
Personally, I like when older songs (“Start Me Up” came out in 1981) are used in commercials. It exposes a new generation to tunes they might not otherwise hear.
