Artist: Harry Gregson-Williams
You know what time it is? Time for pretty, that’s what. This gorgeous Omega Watches commercial, featuring “Smiling”, performed by Harry Gregson Williams and the Seattle Session Orchestra, is just dripping with pretty.
This commercial was featured on one of my favorite geeky blogs, Epbot. I’m a sucker for steampunk, so I couldn’t wait to show everyone – and then I found out that SoundHound recognized the classical sounding background music. I think my neighbors are still half-deaf.
This tune is an incredibly relaxing combination of piano and strings. The cinematic style of this ad totally fits Gregson-Williams’ musical abilities – he’s got a long history in film.
Gregson-Williams also composed music for the Narnia films (he won a Grammy for his work in 2007), Shrek, the latest iteration of Total Recall and Cowboys vs. Aliens (which has basically the worst name of any film ever). He hails from Britain, and has also composed music for several of the Metal Gear Solid games. He’s been busy, is what I’m trying to say.
Anyway, what a way to show off a watch! And y’know, this company can probably afford to make a few more of these pretty ads – that watch at the end costs $3,775.
“Smiling” isn’t available for download, but the equally satisfying and incredibly epic Arrival At Aslan’s How – The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (An Original Walt Disney Records Soundtrack) from Prince Caspian, is. And it’s definitely worth it.
