The Olympics have come and gone, leaving us only with memories. Yes, we’ll never forgot how Danny Boyle’s raucous opening celebration of Englishness delighted us and then, after rolling out the sick-kids-in-bed dance routine, left many of us scratching our heads. We’ll never forget how Michael Phelps became the greatest Olympian ever. Or, how the U.S. Men’s Basketball Team played against all odds to win the gold for the first time since the last Olympics, and how weird people look while walking really, really fast but not quite running. Lastly, of course, we’ll always remember the pride we felt when the U.S. Olympic Women’s Gymnastics Team took home the gold.

Many Olympic fans requested us to find the artist of the folkish, foot-stomping, Mumford-and-Sons-esqe ballad, “Home”, that played during the NBC promo montages of the U.S. Olympic Women’s Gymnastics Team. Since you most likely own a copy of the single by now, you know the artist was Season 11 “American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips, who also performed “Home” as his coronation song in the Season Finale. Naturally, sales of “Home” surged due to its recent Olympic exposure. The single peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and gave Phillips his first gold record. According to a recent article in MTV News, Phillips is currently hard at work on a forthcoming full-length debut but has not given the album’s release date or name at this time.

Below are the lyrics and some videos of “Home”, including the U.S. Women’s Olympic Gymnastic promo, which helped propel his burgeoning music career. Also, a video of race walking. I’m sorry, I know it’s a difficult sport, but it just looks weird.

“Home” (written by Greg Holden/Drew Pearson)
Hold on, to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone
Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons
