Song: Down With the Trumpets – Down With the Trumpets – Single
Artist: Rizzle Kicks
Wow… I always could have sworn that Skechers had a “t” in there, this is news to me that it does not. You would think I would know that considering how many Skechers I owned when I was a dog walker (the answer is a lot, you run through shoes when you are walking for a job). Have you seen the new Skechers commercial? It’s actually not that remarkable… just a lady walking around somewhere that I presume is in California as it’s sunny and there is a beach. I have mixed feelings towards Skechers right now… their shoes are perfectly fine, but then there are the Bob’s, which is just a complete rip off of Tom’s right down to their shoe for a shoe campaign. I think donating and giving back are wonderful for a company to do, but can you at least get your own ideas? I can’t even handle it. If I am going to buy into someone’s campaign like that then I am at least going to buy the original as it’s probably better and it’s ideals are probably more truthful. Clearly Skechers was just like “hey, what a cool idea and a great way to make us look good and make money. We should do the exact same thing and make almost an exact copy of the shoe, except let’s change something so we don’t get sued, like the name. Let’s change the name… to something incredibly similar.” Oye.
Anyway, I am done with my mini rant (for now), the fun totally danceable (like Dirty Dancing:Havana Nights danceable) song in this commercial is Down with the Trumpets by Rizzle Kicks. Rizzle Kicks are an adorably thugish looking hip hop duo from Brighton England. Maybe it’s my age showing, but I kind of want to pinch the cheeks of these young boys and tell them how adorable they look when they are acting all tough and selling millions of records. Oh man, and the Kicks part of their name comes from their love of football (English I presume)… that is just so cute. That’s like me making a rap name like Tough Kitty because of my love of Hello Kitty. It’s just precious is what I am saying. It also goes well with a commercial about shoes which are sometimes called kicks… you guys, these things all tie together so well. Sometimes I think advertising companies just pick a word and google it and then search through all the songs that come up with that name and bam, commercial music is made.
Where are these two adorable men now? Well… they are working on their second album and working on a comedy show which they will co-write and star in. Only in the UK would this work…unless they were the Jonas Brothers… or that band in the show on Nickelodeon… OK this could work in a lot of places. Good luck boys. Don’t forget to write your Aunty Tahnee when you’re famous.
