Me & My Friends - Me & My Friends - Single

We had several of our readers looking for this catchy indie pop/rock song in The Shops at Target commercial–so thanks to Carl, Julia, Brittney, and more for bringing this to our attention via our request form.   The song is called “Me and My Friends” by Tim Myers, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like it has been released for sale/download yet.  [9/17/12 UPDATE: It is now available! See above!] I guess you’ll just have to settle for his other upbeat indie songs from his 2012 album Technicolor, including “Under Control,” which was in a Chase commercial earlier this year.

The spot, which is for several fall lines at Target collectively called “The Shops,” is nicely stylized in the usual Target fashion.  Using minimal white outlines of buildings representing the different shops, the actual products pop out visually as the models walk through this virtual little town.  Also popping out:  male models from sewer manholes (@0:10).  I guess the shops are so cool you just gotta do what you gotta do to get there.  Or maybe he’s to The Shops what Oscar the Grouch is to Sesame Street–he just lives down there, don’t ask any questions.

The lyrics heard in the commercial are as follows:

Go out, paint the town red
Get wild with my friends
I got your love
You’ve got my love

Whoa-oh-oh whoa-oh-oh
Whoa-oh whoa-oh
Whoa-oh-oh whoa-oh-oh

Give a little heart, give a little love
You can live it up, need a little help
I’ll be there
Me and my friends!

Your Christmas tv commercial is the pits. When it comes on it is so irritating that I go mad trying to change the station immediately. It hurts my eyes and my brains. I 100% hate it. Seen it twice and will never watch it again. Calculate how many other people may feel the same. Don’t forget the effect it will have on the TV Network it is on. What will they do when they learn of the effect of your commercial on their viewers.
