This T Mobile commercial song is a fun one not only because of the music, but because it was recorded at a live concert and we get to see behind-the-scenes footage of the filming. Awesome! Thank you, Kiko, for giving us a head’s up on this spot via our request form. I dig what they did with it. Not only did T Mobile use some hip musicians in their commercial, they enlisted bloggers as well. (As you might already know, I am quite fond of brands putting bloggers in commercials.) These bloggers were all treated to T Mobile Samsung Galaxy S III phones, let loose at a rooftop concert, and told to take snapshots and tweet and instagram and generally have fun while going crazy online. Very savvy, T Mobile. Way to go. You’re making the competition look like dinosaurs with this one.
Also, um, next time a brand does this can someone please, please, pretty please with sugar on top-style pleeeeaaase make sure they see how imperative it is that a representative of the What Song is in that Commercial? blog is there? (Ahem, that representative would, naturally, be me. Again. Please?)
Anyway, the poppy, indie-rock band is Oberhofer. They’re named after their front man Brad Oberhofer and they come from Brooklyn. Sweet. o0Oo0O0o–the song in this spot–was released in 2011 and is their first single.
