Song: Take A Walk
Artist: Passion Pit
Taco Bell recently released its newest creation for the masses – the Doritos Locos Taco. It consists of the standard Taco Bell taco supreme surrounded by a Nacho Cheese Doritos shell. The commercial for this merging of two pieces of snacking goodness features the song “Take a Walk” by Passion Pit. A collage of pictures of the Locos Tacos stagger on top of each other as if the tacos are walking across the screen and into your mouth.
According to the band’s website, the song is about the struggles of singer/songwriter Michael Angelakos’s father and grandfather bringing family members to America, which doesn’t fit, for me. The commercial seems all upbeat and happy, but the lyrics? Not so much. It’s still a fantastic song.
However, the lyrics do reflect the struggles felt by many Americans today. Struggles that the people of Bethel, Alaska can relate to – they are without a Taco Bell, which means no Locos Tacos for them. Sadface, I know.
A rumor started at the beginning of summer that this small town was going to get a Taco Bell location. However, this was a cruel hoax, and Taco Bell had no intention of opening a location there. The Heartbroken Alaskans of Bethel would be unable to just walk to the nearest TB and experience the satisfaction of eating these tacos like their fellow Americans. But then Taco Bell swooped in (literally) and saved the day by bringing 10,000 Locos Tacos by airlift to this little community to try out their newest creation. Kudos Taco Bell for keeping it classy all the way up in the last frontier!
Passion Pit is currently on tour and recently made an appearance at the “Made in America” festival hosted by Jay-Z and headlined by Pearl Jam. Check out their page for more information.
