Hey look, it is a Target commercial that isn’t stark white! This spot for one of their fancy designer collaborations has a lush cinematic feel that works nicely as counter programming. The Target commercial song is She’s Got Something by Greg Holden and it meshes well in this ad that fancies itself a micro film (really, it has a narrative, it stars actual actress Olivia Thirlby, and there’s a dramatic fight). Maybe it was the music, the pretty dresses, or the chemical effect that seeing the word “February” has on the human brain, but by the end I was definitely feeling the love.
The Prabal Gurung line is very pretty and carries the romance theme over to naming their pieces, with items like the First Date Blouse and Meet the Parents Dress. That all sounds good, but I hope it also includes some Takeout Thai and Netflix Sweatpants. Love: it”s not all rooftop dinners and flower bouquet sword fights. Sometimes just letting someone have the last spring roll is the most romantic thing.
Well it all started out in a wonderful city we all know
But on streets that few have seen
My life would never be
but from that moment on my life would never be
Get me back, get me back to New York
She’s got something I’m looking for
