Tropicana is getting hip, you guys. First Ingrid Michaelson sings The Beatles and now they got Passion Pit. Lemme tell you something right now. If working on this site for five months has taught me anything about commercials it’s this: Passion Pit moves product. Whether it’s tacos or headphones; smart phones or video games, if you got Passion Pit on your team, watch out.
This commercial, for Tropicana’s new Farmstand fruit and vegetable juice, feature’s the Pit’s song “Carried Away.” an upbeat little pop gem that’s perfect for this ad. I for one am happy Tropicana went with something other than “Take A Walk.” “Carried Away” is a finger snapper of a track with an infectious chorus, something that Passion Pit is pretty well known for. While the song itself, from the band’s album Gossamer, sounds like it’s about a troubled relationship, you’d never know it by listening tot he melody.
Tropicana has used the chorus in its ad to show a grocery store clerk dancing his way out of a freezer and through a supermarket to stock more juice. He’s clearly getting carried away with his job, while still making sure the Tropicana Farmstand juice is still delightfully chilled. So chilled in fact that he needs gloves to put it on the shelf. Maybe that’s a little above and beyond “chilled.”
It’s another fun little commercial from Tropicana, and yet another appearance from Passion Pit on your TV. Check it out below.
