In the new Wells Fargo Commercial a dad spends a day on the town hanging out with his baby and getting some errands done. After they run from dry cleaner to grocery store to Mommy and Me class, he magically deposits a check using a Wells Fargo mobile app that doesn’t even require him to go to the bank. Adult life, sometimes the excitement is just too overwhelming.
I know the music in this commercial is a little subdued, but every time it comes on I turn it up to catch the first ten seconds of Dear Mr. President by Fitz and the Tantrums. You really need to check out the whole track to appreciate the infectious sounds of this Los Angeles indie/soul group. The actual lyrics of the song are a critique of economic conditions and talk about a father walking out on his family. So when you consider that this is a commercial about a dad and his kid for a bank, whoever chose this song must have a wicked sense of humor.
P.S. If you’re pretty sure you just found your new favorite band then I’ve got some great news for you: Not only do Fitz and the Tantrums have a new album coming out May 7th (currently available for pre-order), but they”re also touring the country like mad from now until the end of summer. They’re even going to Canada. So not even being a Canuck should keep you from enjoying this group live.
