Xbox 360 Kinect “Where is my Mind?” Cover

This past fall, Microsoft started running a commercial that showcases some of the innovative things programmers are doing with their Xbox Kinect technology, and it also features a very nice instrumental rendition of Pixies“Where is my Mind?”  The music is further incorporated into the commercial as we see people playing along on virtual instruments via the Kinect.  Unfortunately, you can’t buy or download this particular version of “Where is my Mind?” as it was a custom work done specifically for this commercial by the people at Q Department.  While we think that they (along with the help of the ad agency twofifteenmccann and Microsoft?) should strongly consider releasing a version for download, there are a few similar versions that you can settle for in the meantime:  a solo piano version by Maxence Cyrin that you may have heard in the movie It’s Kind of a Funny Story, a piano and mallet version from Rockabye Baby! who has a whole album of lullaby renditions of the Pixies, and a string version by the Vitamin String Quartet, who also has a full-album tribute to the Pixies.
